New Year is just within few days away. It is time to make your new year's resolutions.

Probably, for a home owner with adjustable rate of mortgage (ARM), the most important resolutions is to refinance your ARM to a fixed interest rate mortgage.

If your ARM were made at the start of 2005 to July of 2007, you will be benefited by Bush Plan of interest rate-freeze. But, to be qualified for this, you must not have payment default. If you are not in this category, it still can be done to refinance it to a fixed rate depending on your situations.

In addition to this resolution, here is a very nice article about resolutions by Frank Capria. Read more

Dec 20, 2007, President Bush signed into law. This bill was approved Oct. 4 2004. The Senate's bill gives financial relief for homeowners facing foreclosure or in bankruptcy advanced in the House Thursday when the House approved legislation to help financially strapped homeowners.

President Bush signed into law today a new measure to provide for homeowners facing or . The bill eliminates federal taxes due from homeowners who have had mortgage debt forgiven as part of a foreclosure or the renegotiation of a loan. Currently such has been treated as taxable income.

The bill arose in response to the current mortgage crisis and is anticipated to reduce taxes on strapped homeowners by $650 million. "When you're worried about making your payments, higher taxes are the last thing you need to worry about," Bush said at the bill-signing ceremony. With some 2+ million adjustable-rate mortgages scheduled to reset through 2008, the new law will be a nice holiday gift for many homeowners facing tough times ahead. If you fall into this group, be sure to have your paperwork in order including mortgage documents and/or sales contracts and then discuss the situation with your tax preparer to make certain you have filed the proper forms with your tax return.
