How To Prepare The Inside When Selling Your Home?

I talked about the first impression at previous blog on curb appeal. The principle of the first impression also applies here. Imagine if you are a buyer, and stepping into a house. What stuff can influence you most at the moment you open the door?

There are few inexpensive things you can do to instantly . Here are the tips on .

1. Doorknob

It is the first place are about to open your front. Replace it with a shining one if it looks rust or old.
Paint you front door if you haven't done so yet.

2. Fragrance.

I my previous blog, I mentioned that household odor is the top one reason that drives the buyer away from your home. Imagine how you feel if you open the front door of other person's house and were welcome by the strong smells of pets, or cigarette smoking, or other strong smell. How would you impression be?
Get rid of the smell and place some lighter and pleasant fragrance in each room.

3. Bulbs and broker light fixture.

Replacing the burned out bulbs with super bright one and broken fixture with shiny one will not only make the house looks lighter insider, but also gives buyers the impression that house is well maintained and sharp.

4. Your carpets:

It not only gives buyer a fresh and clean look, but also help you to get rid the annoying odor.
If some spots of your carpets seem worn out, placing a nice new rug to cover it may be a cheap and better solution to replace entirely.

5. Kitchen:

Kitchen is the place where a lot of the decisions are made. Remember, the person with at least 50% voting power will spend a lot of her time here. You should try your best to make it attractive. There are few inexpensive things you can do to achieve it.

  • For about $100 dollars, you can replace an entire counter top
  • Deep clean the sinks and replace them if they look to ugly.
  • Deep clean the stove top
  • Deep clean the vent if it is to greasy
  • Replace the doors of any appliance by calling the manufacture for parts. It is much cheaper than replacing the entire unit.
  • Replace all the sticks and notes from your refrigerator.

6. Ceiling Fans

Clean the ceiling fans and replace them if they look too old.

7. Clutter

Remove all the clutter from each room and closet.

8. Interior paint

Make sure the first wall buyers are facing when they walk in is nice and neat. The easiest way is to freshly paint it. Use two colors to contrast to other wall. But make sure they are not too colorful or complicated. Remember to use lighter color if the house is dark.

9. Window and blind

Clean the windows and blinds. if they are too ugly, place some decorative curtains or rods. This can make a great impression than the old ugly windows and blinds.
